Familia Graphics Tshirts!

For Christmas last year, my mom gave my dad a silk screen printer as a gift. My dad owns a graphic design/print shop called Familia Graphics in my hometown and I remember growing up we had a Tshirt with the Familia Graphics logo on it.  I loved it and wore it all the time until it got too old to wear anymore.  One of the first projects my dad did with his new silk screen printer was to make Familia Graphics shirts for his family. He also made some for my cousin Billy and his family.  The shirts turned out fantastic!  Thanks Dad!

Cupcakes

My friends Amy and Hilda, both amazing bakers, were the inspiration behind these cupcakes! Today I felt up to a challenge and googled cupcakes and came up with these. Michael and I got straight to work. I'm pretty proud of how they turned out!

Homemade Decorative Onesies

I made these cute and really easy onesies! Kalai is going to a little friend's birthday party tomorrow and gonna give her the " I'm A Big Sister" onesie (her mom is expecting) and the cupcake onesie. I'm going to make Kalai a matching cupcake onesie since I think it is so adorable. The flower onesie is also for Kalai and I think it will look cute with her tutu. This was a fun project because it is inexpensive but can really spice up a plain old white onesie. I'm excited to make more!

Cupcake Blanket

Hi all! I just wanted to post a picture of the first sewing project that I have done in a long time. I got a sewing machine for Christmas so it has been fun fiddling around with it. I sewed this blanket for a friend of mine. Amy's nursery is decorated with a cupcake theme since she is an amazing baker so look closely and you can see tiny cupcakes on the material. Sewing her this blanket was totally worth it cause as a "Thank-you" Amy baked cupcakes that were flavored, pink lemonade, rootbeer, peanut butter chocolate chip, and key lime pie! I am in the middle of another project but this one is gonna take me longer but I like where it is going so I'll post pictures of it when I am done.

Corn Chowder Recipe

This was our Sunday dinner. We gave it two thumbs up (each).

Creamy Corn Chowder
Recipe by Our Best Bites

2 Tbsp. butter
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. water
2 1/2 c. milk (skim or 1% work just fine and lighten it up considerably)
2 regular-sized chicken bouillon cubes, 1 Knorr chicken bouillon cube, or 2 tsp. chicken base
1/2 lb. bacon (optional)
1 small onion, minced
2 red potatoes, diced into small cubes
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can corn, drained or about 1 1/2 C frozen fresh corn
Salt and pepper to taste
A few dashes of hot sauce (like Tabasco or Cholula)

Fry bacon until crisp. In the meantime, melt butter over low heat in a soup pot. When melted, add flour to make a roux and whisk until it comes together in a little ball. Add water and whisk until completely combined and there are no lumps. Add milk and chicken base or bouillon and bring to a simmer. Add potatoes, onions, and garlic, and simmer (but don't boil!), stirring very frequently, for about 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Add crumbled bacon and corn and heat through. Add a few drops of hot sauce and then salt to taste. The reason why I don't have an exact measurement is that while the soup REALLY needs salt, bacon also really differs in its saltiness, so it can be super easy to make this soup waaaaay too salty. Start with about 1/4 tsp., give it a few minutes, and then add more if you need it.

Ladle into bowls and sprinkle with extra bacon and/or cheese if you want. Because, you know, if there's anything a perfectly healthy bowl of soup (it's only 3 Weight Watchers points!) needs, it's some extra bacon and cheese!
